Broadcasted over Google Plus, On-Air Hangout
Conversation: #SA30
I recently sat down (virtually via Google Plus, On Air Hangout) with the Big Ideas in Higher Education Conference Team (Tony Doody, Courtney O’Connell, Matt Ferguson, Kevin O’Connell, & Patrick Love) for a Live Video Interview! It had been a while since I’ve done one of these, so I was excited to get back at it and kick it off with this amazing group of professionals.
During the interview, we talked about they about how they got the Big Ideas Conference off the ground, what some of their challenges were, their future plans for Big Ideas, and initial assessment of how the conference went. We also discussed their individual interests in technology, student affairs, and higher education and got to know these educational pioneers better! I hope you can join us for our conversation!

What was the moment that it went from, “There are so many things conferences could do different” to “We are going to have a conference that pushes things to the next level.”
Has any other Higher Education organization taken notice of what Big Ideas was up to? Have they contacted for ideas? Questions? Collaboration opportunities?
How are you going to assess the “success”, momentum, movement of the conference?
What is the next step? What’s coming up? Regional big ideas? Do you see this being like TED and having BigIdeasX pop up all over?
Thanks so much Joe for your questions, reading and sharing this post! I will make sure all these questions get asked! If you wish to join the hangout and ask these questions yourself, just let me know and I will send you a link
Thanks again my friend!
Minor comment — would be great if folks had a name badge (real or virtual) for those of us lurking (and not yet familiar with these faces!)
Jess, great point! I’ve been recommended a great plugin so we can add names for future interviews! Thanks so much!
